I was recently asked to review a cake from Baker Days. When they asked I instantly said yes, because let's me honest who doesn't want cake. I expected to receive my cake about a week after I ordered it but no not Baker Days, my cake came 2 days after ordering it. If you order before 2pm it's next day delivered but I ordered mine after 2pm. It so easy to order just head over to there website Baker Days and you can pick your category of cake and then personalise it from there sponge type, photo and text. My cake below was the letterbox cake which was £14.99 and a perfect surprise gift for a family member or friend. How exciting would it be to receive one of these through the post.
When I first heard of a letter box cake I wondered how it worked, would it be fresh? Would it arrive in one piece? It arrived in a box that fitted perfectly through the letterbox like intended. Then I opened it and it was beautifully packaged in a tin which I will definitely be re using and with a little card and a packet of love hearts to make it that little extra bit special.
As soon as I opened the tin it smelt like I had just walked in to a cake shop and was making my mouth salivate but I was waiting for Keith to come home so he could see it and also taste it. So once we had settled down for the night we split it in half and did the taste test and I asked Keith to describe it in 3 words. His words were Moist, Soft and Fresh.
I thought the cake was the perfect size to split between 4 people, although were greedy so had half each. It was fresh and the sponge cake was probably one if the best I have tasted, it was light unlike some other cakes I have had which can be heavy. The only one criticism I have was there wasn't much buttercream and it seemed to be stuck on the base board the cake came on. Apart from that it was perfect and I will definitely be ordering from here again in the future.
Here is a picture of Keith enjoying his cake.
